Thank you for this wonderful first hand account of one of themost historicly glorious moments in the history of our country....I wrote a post myself after seeing the ceremonies on CNN that night...I thank God for CNN because there was no way I could go to D.C. to be there for this ceremony though I would have wanted to....And to then read your account and see the truly wonderful pictures you took of that morning...Well, I thank you with all my heart!
Vivian Paige left a comment on my blog and that is how I was able to read this....So I say thanks t0 both of you.
I loved what Maya Angelou said and as always, the way she said it, but the most moving time for me was seeing both Andrew Young and Jesse Jackson so very moved themselves as they recalled those last moments of Dr. King's life. I still remember exactly where I was when I heard that terrible terrible news...It was an unthinkable devistatingly horrible thing to happen to the one man who seemed to be our greatest hope....It was thrilling to see the dirt turned over by so very many people and that very act of breaking the ground for this fitting Memorial gave me some of that hope, once again.

Thank you for taking the time to write this and sharing the experience with us. I'd e-mailed the link to the first part to my niece and we had a great conversation reading through it together on the phone last night. I've (obviously) always felt comfortable trying to make her aware of Iran's history and what has gone on/goes on in the Middle East, but not qualified enough to do the same when it comes to American history. Posts like this help.
