{"id":1110,"date":"2008-08-11T10:23:05","date_gmt":"2008-08-11T14:23:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blacknell.net\/dynamic\/?p=1110"},"modified":"2008-08-11T10:27:46","modified_gmt":"2008-08-11T14:27:46","slug":"beer-is-a-sin-dont-you-know","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blacknell.net\/dynamic\/2008\/08\/11\/beer-is-a-sin-dont-you-know\/","title":{"rendered":"Beer Is A Sin, Don&#8217;t You Know?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It just boggles that you can still find more than a couple of people who can do <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blueridgemuse.com\/node\/1736\">things like this<\/a> with a straight face:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A gaggle of do-gooders came to my door the other day to solicit support for their efforts to block the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shootingcreekbrewery.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Shooting Creek Brewery<\/strong><\/a>, a brew pub not far from our home.<\/p>\n<p>Conversation went something like this:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Hi, did you know there is an effort to start a brew pub that will brew and serve beer?<\/p>\n<p><em>Isn&#8217;t that what they do at brew pubs?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Yes, but we don&#8217;t think brew pubs belong in Floyd County.<\/p>\n<p><em>Why not?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Because drinking is a sin.<\/p>\n<p><em>It is? Didn&#8217;t Christ serve wine to his disciples?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s not the point.
