{"id":1159,"date":"2008-08-22T11:33:30","date_gmt":"2008-08-22T15:33:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blacknell.net\/dynamic\/?p=1159"},"modified":"2008-08-22T11:33:30","modified_gmt":"2008-08-22T15:33:30","slug":"dc-gets-a-downtown-pro-criterium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blacknell.net\/dynamic\/2008\/08\/22\/dc-gets-a-downtown-pro-criterium\/","title":{"rendered":"DC Gets A Downtown Pro Criterium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On September 21st <em>of this year<\/em>, you&#8217;ll be able to head down to Penn Quarter and see a real live pro criterium race in the form of the\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.capitalcriterium.com\/index.html\">ING Direct Capital Criterium<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s a six turn 1km circuit that winds its way among the Federal agencies downtown.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"imagefloatright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.capitalcriterium.com\/Resources\/cccoursemap.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"309\" height=\"166\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been waiting for a long time to see something like this happen (in fact, I already know the shot I&#8217;ll be aiming for).\u00c2\u00a0 As it stands, there&#8217;s going to be a Men&#8217;s 35+ race, a Men&#8217;s 1\/2\/3, and a Men&#8217;s Pro.\u00c2\u00a0 No word on who the teams will be yet.<\/p>\n<p>DId you notice something missing from that list of races?\u00c2\u00a0 That&#8217;s right, no women&#8217;s field.\u00c2\u00a0 Which is especially disappointing, considering that Cyclelife, a presenting sponsor, has its own women&#8217;s team.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 They&#8217;re aware of that disappointment, and while they haven&#8217;t promised anything about next year, they say that they hope to include a women&#8217;s field when they can.<\/p>\n<p>The official race site is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.capitalcriterium.com\/index.html\">here<\/a>, and I&#8217;ll post more when details become available.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On September 21st of this year, you&#8217;ll be able to head down to Penn Quarter and see a real live pro criterium race in the form of the\u00c2\u00a0ING Direct Capital Criterium.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s a six turn 1km circuit that winds its way among the Federal agencies downtown.
