{"id":2440,"date":"2009-01-30T19:41:10","date_gmt":"2009-01-31T00:41:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blacknell.net\/dynamic\/?p=2440"},"modified":"2009-01-30T19:41:10","modified_gmt":"2009-01-31T00:41:10","slug":"mark-your-calendar-for-the-vasa-ride-march-1st","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blacknell.net\/dynamic\/2009\/01\/30\/mark-your-calendar-for-the-vasa-ride-march-1st\/","title":{"rendered":"Mark Your Calendar for the VASA Ride: March 1st"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Washcycle wrote the post answering the question I was thinking about at the same time &#8211; when will this year&#8217;s VASA Ride take place?\u00c2\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thewashcycle.com\/2009\/01\/waba-spring-events.html\">March 1st is the answer<\/a>, it seems.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 They had 200 riders in 2007, and around 300 in 2008.\u00c2\u00a0 Would love to see that increase substantially this year.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, right &#8211; what&#8217;s the VASA Ride?\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s a mass ride (of varying lengths) sponsored by the Embassy of Sweden to celebrate the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vasaloppet.se\">Vasaloppet<\/a>, a Swedish ski race.\u00c2\u00a0 DC, thank god, isn&#8217;t cold enough to have a companion ski race, so we do it on bikes.\u00c2\u00a0 Last year we rode from the Embassy up MacArthur Boulevard to Cabin John and back.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s not a race &#8211; just a fun group ride.\u00c2\u00a0 The best part?\u00c2\u00a0 The free hot blueberry soup served by the Embassy at the end.\u00c2\u00a0 If you&#8217;re in the DC area, I hope you&#8217;ll check it out.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 (In fact, if you&#8217;re on the fence about it, drop me an email and let me <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">dragoon<\/span> convince you to ride with me and the group I&#8217;m <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">forcing<\/span> assembling.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Washcycle wrote the post answering the question I was thinking about at the same time &#8211; when will this year&#8217;s VASA Ride take place?\u00c2\u00a0 March 1st is the answer, it seems.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 They had 200 riders in 2007, and around 300 in 2008.\u00c2\u00a0 Would love to see that increase substantially this year.
