The government doesn&#8217;t need my fingerprints, biometric details, addresses, driving licence details or my insurance numbers.  As a result, it looks like the Home Secretary <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/pages\/live\/articles\/news\/news.html?in_article_id=441329&#038;in_page_id=1770&#038;ito=newsnow\">won&#8217;t renew my passport<\/a> when it comes due in 2009.   I trust the British government with my details even less than I trust the US government (and they&#8217;ve <a href=\"http:\/\/www.privacyinternational.org\/article.shtml?cmd%5B347%5D=x-347-545269\">earned that distinction<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>I cannot believe that I&#8217;m saying this, but David Cameron&#8217;s Tories are increasingly looking like a reasonable response to the overreaches of Labour.<\/p>\n<p>More (opposition) info about the national identity card scheme <a href=\"http:\/\/www.no2id.net\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have absolutely no intention of ever getting a National ID card.
