The cool thing &#8212; Ruth is older than the bike: she&#8217;s 83 years old.<\/p>\n<p>She <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sunjournal.com\/story\/311912-3\/LewistonAuburn\/Thief_steals_83yearolds_prize_bicycle\/\">got the bicycle as a gift<\/a> from her parents when she was a teenager in 1943. It&#8217;s the only bicycle she&#8217;s ever needed or wanted. When she was out for a coffee run last weekend, somebody stole the bike.<\/p>\n<p>A happy ending: When they heard about the theft, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sunjournal.com\/story\/312036-3\/LewistonAuburn\/Stolen_bike_recovered\/\">several people<\/a> offered reward money for the bike&#8217;s recovery. Somebody who claims he received the bike <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sunjournal.com\/story\/311912-3\/LewistonAuburn\/Thief_steals_83yearolds_prize_bicycle\/\">saw Ruth&#8217;s story<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wmtw.com\/news\/19149832\/detail.html\">turned her bike<\/a> in to the police.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>(and you people thought this was another on today&#8217;s theme, didn&#8217;t you?)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cyclelicious has the story: Ruth Slovenski is my hero.
