{"id":3623,"date":"2009-12-21T13:47:13","date_gmt":"2009-12-21T17:47:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blacknell.net\/dynamic\/?p=3623"},"modified":"2009-12-21T13:49:21","modified_gmt":"2009-12-21T17:49:21","slug":"more-on-bringing-a-gun-to-a-dc-snowball-fight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blacknell.net\/dynamic\/2009\/12\/21\/more-on-bringing-a-gun-to-a-dc-snowball-fight\/","title":{"rendered":"More on Bringing a Gun to a DC Snowball Fight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The video from Reason:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">[youtube]http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=uAgQKJuriIo[\/youtube]<\/p>\n<p>A cop who pulls a gun for no reason, tries to provoke someone into assaulting him, and then shoves that person when he doesn&#8217;t take the cop&#8217;s bait?\u00c2\u00a0 Shocking, I tell you.\u00c2\u00a0 A particularly nice touch was parking in the middle of the street, and then using the fact that you can&#8217;t block the street to move the public out of ear range of what they&#8217;re doing.<\/p>\n<p>Detective Baylor <em>seems<\/em> to be the guy&#8217;s name, and Washington Post <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2009\/12\/20\/AR2009122000881.html\">says he&#8217;s on desk duty<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s also <em>shocking<\/em> that the police denied that he&#8217;d pulled a gun until they realized that this thing was caught on video.<\/p>\n<p>(I do have a bit of sympathy for the cops called in after.\u00c2\u00a0 If the looks on their faces say anything, it&#8217;s &#8220;I cannot believe I&#8217;m having to defend this jackass . . .&#8221;)<\/p>\n<p>Another interesting tidbit, about the promotion of the snowball fight:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>With [the organizers] nonstop efforts, the event was making the cyber rounds. Even the D.C. Department of Transportation seemed to embrace it, Tweeting on Saturday soon after the fight began: &#8220;SNOW UPDATE as advertised, there is a large snowball battle at 14th and U.
