The Guardian points to something<\/a> that everyone living in the DC area (and probably entire Eastern Seaboard) already suspected was the case:<\/p>\n

Now scientists have confirmed what’s been pretty obvious: the entire world has just come through the warmest six months, the warmest year, and the warmest decade on record. Following\u00c2\u00a0the hottest June ever<\/a>,AccuWeather.com<\/a> yesterday said July was the second hottest July recorded \u00e2\u20ac\u201c and the warmest ever for land temperatures alone.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And with that comes consequences:<\/p>\n

Just in case those feel like abstractions, here’s what they mean in practice:\u00c2\u00a0because warmer air holds more water vapour than cold, deluge increases<\/a>.
