Mica (R-Fl.) will go to mine for votes<\/a> amongst the perpetually under-imaginary-siege gun enthusiasts is astonishing. \u00c2\u00a0Or at least it was in the first few years it happened.<\/p>\n<p>Look &#8211; the national gun control lobby has been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/2011\/01\/11\/gun_control_dead\/\">effectively dead for more than a decade<\/a> now. \u00c2\u00a0But that doesn&#8217;t stop <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/blog\/inside-politics\/2012\/feb\/10\/nra-official-obama-wants-outlaw-guns-2nd-term\/\">fundamentally dishonest organizations like the NRA<\/a> from attempting to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2010\/12\/14\/AR2010121406045.html\">undermine our ongoing civic conversation<\/a> in the service of their own <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/wgbh\/pages\/frontline\/shows\/guns\/procon\/equality.html\">membership-building activities<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s time to call bullshit on these liars. \u00c2\u00a0In exactly those terms.<\/p>\n<p>And as I note almost every time I write about the NRA&#8217;s fear-mongering: I&#8217;ve owned a gun all of my adult life, and my first encounter with the NRA was with a hunter safety class I took when I was 12 years old. \u00c2\u00a0I don&#8217;t hate guns. \u00c2\u00a0I hate what dishonest liars like the NRA and John Mica are using guns to do.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The lengths to which politicians like Rep.
