{"id":544,"date":"2007-10-29T09:55:09","date_gmt":"2007-10-29T13:55:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blacknell.net\/dynamic\/2007\/10\/29\/dccx-dc-does-cyclocross\/"},"modified":"2007-10-30T21:39:36","modified_gmt":"2007-10-31T01:39:36","slug":"dccx-dc-does-cyclocross","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blacknell.net\/dynamic\/2007\/10\/29\/dccx-dc-does-cyclocross\/","title":{"rendered":"DCCX &#8211; DC Does Cyclocross!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> DC enjoyed its first organized <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cyclo-cross\">cyclocross<\/a> event, this past Sunday.  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2382\/1795835753_e576d73cf8.jpg?v=0\" class=\"imagefloatright\" height=\"170\" width=\"255\" \/>DCMTB\/City Bikes did the heavy lifting in organizing and managing the races, and the U.S. Armed Forces Retirement Home (the new name for the U.S. Soliders&#8217; and Airmen&#8217;s Home) provided an absolutely beautiful venue.  I felt a little lame heading out there without even thinking of having a go myself, but it was so much fun to watch I pretty much left that feeling at the gate.  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2081\/1795545940_4ae0532e63.jpg\" class=\"imagefloatleft\" height=\"178\" width=\"267\" \/>I hope they can pull off turning it into an annual event &#8211; it&#8217;s the sort of racing that makes me positively evangelical about the sport.<\/p>\n<p>Gwadzilla, as usual, <a href=\"http:\/\/gwadzilla.blogspot.com\/2007\/10\/beautiful-day-in-washington-dc.html\">has the better words<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Pictures from the Men&#8217;s 3\/4 &amp; U18 race are available <a href=\"http:\/\/flickr.com\/photos\/blacknell\/sets\/72157602776713243\/\">here<\/a>.   I&#8217;ll upload the rest of the afternoon races as I get a chance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Updated:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/scottsrightofway.typepad.com\/scotts_rightofway\/2007\/10\/dccx----cyclocr.html\">Scott<\/a> talks about his race, and then his son Jake&#8217;s race.
