{"id":657,"date":"2008-02-18T14:47:22","date_gmt":"2008-02-18T19:47:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blacknell.net\/dynamic\/2008\/02\/18\/us-federal-judge-takes-wikileaksorg-down\/"},"modified":"2008-02-18T16:01:32","modified_gmt":"2008-02-18T21:01:32","slug":"us-federal-judge-takes-wikileaksorg-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blacknell.net\/dynamic\/2008\/02\/18\/us-federal-judge-takes-wikileaksorg-down\/","title":{"rendered":"US Federal Judge Takes Wikileaks.org Down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;ll be interesting to see how <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/technology\/7250916.stm\">this resolves<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A controversial website that allows whistle-blowers to anonymously post government and corporate documents has been taken offline in the US.<\/p>\n<p>Wikileaks.org, as it is known, was cut off from the internet following a California court ruling, the site says.<\/p>\n<p>The case was brought by a Swiss bank after &#8220;several hundred&#8221; documents were posted about its offshore activities.<\/p>\n<p>Other versions of the pages, hosted in countries such as Belgium and India, can still be accessed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Wikileaks, in case you&#8217;ve never heard of it, has been gaining profile as the place to put information that someone is trying to keep under cover:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The site was founded in 2006 by dissidents, journalists, mathematicians and technologists from the US, Taiwan, Europe, Australia and South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>It so far claims to have published more than 1.2 million documents.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wikileaks.be\/\">Here&#8217;s a mirror<\/a> of the Wikileaks site.
