House Democrats “narrowly managed to avert a bruising debate on a proposal to impeach Dick Cheney“.
Seriously? They passed up an opportunity to espouse the many reasons Dick Cheney has proven himself unfit for office?
Their ineptitude knows no bounds, it seems. I’ve got more respect for shady used car salesmen, at this point.

You have definitely hit the nail on the head….
These Lieber-crats, these new deciders are nothing more than republican lites and they are going to be shocked when no one will support their presidential candidate in 2008…They are going to lose lots of folks….maybe a new party will end up evolving to FINALY represent the American citizen and not the all might multinational corporation. Buzz Buzz….

Well, I wish I could be so confident that 1) rank and file Democrats could be counted on to make a stand against this kind of idiocy and 2) that the party leadership would pay attention.
People, for the most part, get the government they deserve. It would take a tiny bit of effort on the part of Americans to get a vastly better government, but it seems that’s just asking too much.
I’d like to be wrong.

Hmm, we can spend the next year debating impeachment or Congress can spend its time on oversight and legislation. I’m guessing they chose the latter.
And I do think to some extent this is a zero sum game — you really do have to choose. Clinton’s impeachment is evidence that Congress can’t do much else when it is running a trial.

Except that’s not really the choice, is it? You can do the first in service of the latter. And we’re not even talking about *actually* pursuing impeachment – just discussing the merits of it. Then again, we’re not talking about *actual* oversight either, are we?
There must be consequences for what’s gone on in this Administration. And I’m not talking about losing elections. No future administration – Democratic or Republican – should feel that it can do what this one has done.

Wonderful to see the discontent in the liberal house, just as we have in the conservative house.
