For Your iPod: Jai Ho

Saw Slumdog Millionaire last week.  It was a fine enough movie – I mostly agree with the review here (particularly the well-shot high-speed travelogue bit).  But the soundtrack . . . brilliant.  Like, picked it up right after the movie brilliant.  It’s been in heavy rotation since, and I thought at least a few of you might appreciate it, too.  Here’s one of my favorite tracks:

Jai Ho – AR Rahman, Sukhvinder Singh, Tanvi Shah & Mahalaxmi Iyer

I think the last time I went straight from a movie to a CD store was after seeing Garden State. (Wow, a long time ago). Probably because the last few years I’ve been more likely to buy a soundtrack and then go see the movie(*cough* ‘Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist’ *cough*) or buy the soundtrack without ever seeing the movie.

This is really good. It’s a good one to play after my long time favorite, Aaja Nachle (from Monsoon Wedding).

So long ago that that wasn’t possible for this soundtrack. Released digitally last week – CD doesn’t hit stores until late this month.

Have to admit being tempted to see Nick & Norah.

Also, the rest of you should click here for Aaja Nachle.
