Midweek Makeover: Tomorrow, Wendy

Going to make these a little shorter.  Today’s single cover is Concrete Blonde’s take on Andy Prieboy’s Tomorrow, Wendy. I wore the album (1990’s Bloodletting) out on tape and CD.

(You know, I’m not sure if this is exactly a cover. Andy Prieboy’s original featured vocals from Concrete Blonde’s Johnette Napolitano, who later decided to record this on her own.)

  1. We really should have known each other back then. At the very least, the mixtapes would have been awesome.

    SHUT UP!
(That is a far less eloquent, but no less heartfelt expression of the same sentiment Karen expressed above)

I will need to double check, but I do believe that this is considered a cover, because if I recall, technically Pierboy and Napolitano switched roles on the vocals for their respective versions, and his was first, making it the original. I have to check and see if Andy was on the Bloodletting album version, though 9I know he’s been on one recorded one.

Napolitano also does a kick ass cover of Mercedes Benz, as I am sure you know–I’ve seen saw her perform it live, and god, it was amazing.

    Prieboy. Geez.

This, of course, is but one of the many reasons I know you’re both my people.

Oh my god, was I drunk and didn’t know it, when I wrote that post last night? Could I have been any more incoherent or grammatically incorrect?

(Though it is like the written equivalent of me tripping over my words when I get super excited IRL and can’t say things fast enough!)
