  1. I fully support passenger rail. As a matter of fact exactly why did Pell Grants get $32 billion and high speed rail $5?

I don’t mean to get all technical and stuff, but if you spend $32 billion on building and improving our existing rail lines, and $5 billion on Pell Grants… which one will actually ‘Stimulate’ the economy, and create jobs?

BTW… eight years of George Allen and Gov. Gilmore.. four years tuition was frozen, and Gilmore cut it by 20%…

Six years of Warner and Kaine…. tuition doubles!

We’d probably could have gotten those railroads built had it not been for the tuition crisis caused by Democrat Govs…

I love train travel. Can we make it so the train comes thru my town?

OK, that is stupid selfish. But hey, if you never traveled on a train cross country, (and I haven’t since the 1970’s) all I’m saying was it was a very nice way to travel. I would like to travel on a train again, cross country or even cross state.

Yeah, Spanky, I just don’t know. I mean, there’s obviously no shortage of education here.

Yeah, I’d like to cross the US on a train some day, Bethie. Have done the UK top to bottom and side to side, and lots of trips through Germany, but the longest here has been the NYC-DC run. I’ve tried to use it for other trips, but as soon as you get outside of the BOS-NYC-DC corridor, it’s been very inconvenient/expensive wrt the alternatives.

  4. I think Obama and the Democrat/ic Party missed a huge opportunity to really make a difference by making heavy rail competitive with the airlines, and road building industry.

You can bet the air and road lobbyists limited the funding in the stimulus package… you know the one that didn’t even get 24 hours worth of reading before it was voted on?

It was just rammed thru both houses and signed..
