MB, is this suppose to make you feel better once your party gets its butt kicked in the next election?
And there were way more than “tens of thousands” of people there.
MB
No, it’s intended to give you your time in the sun, LFS.
(Yes, I know, Ms. Malkin told us there were 2 million people there.)
tx2vadem
Yeah, LFS, there were more than tens of thousands on the mall. But they were at the Annual Black Family Reunion, not the tea party. So, tens of thousands, I think accurately portrays the teabaggers.
LFS
Aren’t you cute, tx2vadem. Calling them “teabaggers”. How many hours did it take you to come up with that insult?
There have been many estimates of the number of people that were down there, many based on counts and photos. The estimates of 2 million are probably incorrect. But by what evidence do you draw your conclusions, since you want to speak authoritatively on the subject?
tx2vadem
Oh! My apologies, teabaggers I thought was a name they came up with for themselves to describe how they sent teabags to Congress and the President. =)
Here is NPR’s story on it and they cite their sources: http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2009/09/saturday_crowd_estimate_capito.html
And probably incorrect? Really?
LFS
So your basis is an NPR article quoting a bunch of people’s gut feelings. “Hey look, its Nate Silver, he knows math and stuff!” (and despite his experience at the Obama inauguration, those numbers were actually far smaller than he thought… perhaps the reason for the insane lines etc was all the extra security).
I know this is gonna eat into your time from stealing what you believe to be witty insults from your fellow “progressives”, but perhaps you should read this:

Wow! You should lighten up. I know it’s difficult to ascertain someone’s meaning/intention fully from just text. But I was just being facetious (as noted the smiley). It seems to really have gotten your goose though. Sorry for agitating you.
I read the article, but I don’t think it clarifies the matter any further. If Obama’s crowd was 850k, then how could the taxpayer protest also have been 850k? Once assembled, they were not occupying the entirety of the mall. At the other end was the Black Family Reunion. And the areas around the museums are regularly packed on the weekends with tourist. Plus, the National Gallery has fairly awesome exhibit of Spanish Suits of Armor. So, if fully congregated, they were centered just around the Capitol, then it would seem that the lower end of the estimates fit.

Hey man… Alinsky rule #8 — never let up.
