In 1980s, all the tapes–Beta Maxes if you please; VHS didn’t take off until late 80s, early 90s over there– were bootleg/black market with to begin, so it’s a matter of which ones you were willing to shell out money for, to own. In my case, it was The Terminator, Breakin’, and Labyrinth. The first two cost me an entire year’s of pocket, birthday, and Noruz money; the latter my parents got me as a birthday present at the request of my sister. (In between, there were a few others, but those were the ones that got the most play at my house…well, along with a tape of the men’s events at 1983 World Gynmastic Championships at Budapest, where I could watch my crush Dmitry Bilozerchov over and and over and over again…)
