Obama, Sounding Very Presidential

Today, Obama tells us that:

My view on FISA has always been that the issue of the phone companies per se is not one that overrides the security interests of the American people

Oh, the “security” of the American people overrides the Constitution. Sounds a lot like a certain President, doesn’t he?

Just for fun, let’s take another look at the Oath of Office for the President of the United States:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

Can someone help me find the part where it says “unless I think that the Constitution is at odds with security interests”?

Anyone?

Hopefully, the opinion that I’ve read about these things, is that Obama is moving towards the center for political reasons in the general campaign.

Does he really seem like he is anything other than (mostly) a liberal? Well, I don’t know, but I’m hoping.

I don’t mind him moving toward the center. But the using the rhetoric of “security” to justify unconstitutional measures, well, that’s not really “moving toward the center” so much as continuing Bush’s lawlessness.
