Criminal Negligence

It appears that the Swiss-brokered fax outlining an Iranian proposal for a US-Iranian diplomatic agenda is seeing the light of day.  If it turns out to be genuine (and I have no reason to believe otherwise, beyond general skepticism), the Bush Adminstration’s failure to act on it is absolutely criminal.

2003-gah. Before Ahmadinejad and his meglomaniacal tendencies. Before the hardliners got absolute power in the parliament again. When, potentially, there would have been enough support internally for it to push discussions through at least.
I’m interested in knowing the parties involved in from the Iranian side. My gut tells me Velayati, who for years was the minister of foreign affairs and was one of the more level-headed people in the hardliners (aka Khamenei’s) camp, had a hand in this. Which makes it even worse, if that is true–he was in a better position to influence Khamenei than he is now (even though he’s still considered the silent right hand man).

Any good online sources to follow the internal politics of Iran, Peej?
