The article referenced is from 1997 and it doesn’t disprove global warming. It does not appear from more recent documents from NASA that their scientists are of the opinion that anthropogenic global warming does not exist.

You will see that the peak temperature was about 7800 years ago. We are, fortunately, on a high plateau that started about 10,000 years ago. Not coincidentally, that corresponds to the rise of agriculture and civilization.
I don’t see how this disproves anthropogenic global warming either. How do you reconcile this statement, also on NOAA’s Paleoclimatology site, to your assertion that your referenced data series demonstrates anthropogenic global warming is false: “Most striking is the fact that each record reveals a steep increase in the rate or spatial extent of warming since the mid-19th to early 20th centuries. When compared to the most recent decades of the instrumental record, they indicate the temperatures of the most recent decades are the warmest in the entire record.”
Also, 10,000 years ago corresponds roughly with the end of the last glacial period. Are you saying human development of argiculture 10k years ago ended the last glacial period?
Those peaks are also explained in that same series of articles I refence. According to NOAA’s site: “In summary, the mid-Holocene, roughly 6,000 years ago, was generally warmer than today, but only in summer and only in the northern hemisphere. More over, we clearly know the cause of this natural warming, and know without doubt that this proven ‘astronomical’ climate forcing mechanism cannot be responsible for the warming over the last 100 years.”
This is historically above what we have experienced. I haven’t seen any scientific projections that indicate that this will be a net boon for humanity. Some people might benefit, but most likely a lot of people won’t.
The main point for you to consider for your argument against anthropogenic warming is what explains the most recent recent warming in the temperature record. The peaks you point out are explained by the Earth’s orbit of the Sun. But this one is not. So what is your scientific explanation for the current warming period?
That very site claims that we are NOT above the Mid-Holocene Warm Period or the Penultimate Interglacial Period.
I am also very curious about these orbit changes. Why would it cause the Northern Hemisphere to be warmer, but not the Southern?
Finally, NONE of that explains the evidence for similar, current warming on other bodies in the solar system.
So, we have many periods of dramatic climate change, some warmer than today. They are explained by Earth’s orbit. However, they also say that those warming periods correspond to higher CO2 levels. Thus, the CO2 did not cause the warming, but was a consequence of it. (Where DID that CO2 come from, anyway?)
Any explanation of global warming MUST account for the similar warming elsewhere — where we have no impact.
Periods of global warming/cooling correlates very well with sunspot activity. This in turn corelates well with the C14 found in tree rings as modulated by the cosmic ray flux. Global warming corelates poorly with rising CO2 and plays only a minor role compared to water vapor. Now we are in what appears to be a repeat Dalton minimum to be followed by a longer Maunder milnimum due to reduced sunspots. So global cooling appears to be in the cards for the next several decades. Now we hear that the Gulfstream has stopped. A 2003(?) government study predited this would happen in 2010. Could the warming effects of the Gulfstream be exgagerated also? It appears we are in the clutches of a global cooling perfect storm. How the strength or weakness of these effects truly play out is the crucial question.
A major reason for the warmer winter temperatures in western Europe is due to the stored ocean water summer heat being released slowly in the winter over the lands to the east of the Atlantic. New research now reveals that the wave effect of the Rocky Mountains winds in keeping the jet stream low over eastern North America but high over Europe accounts for half of this winter warming in Western Europe.

Yes, 10,000 years ago the last Ice Age ended. Did we do that, too? Are we causing the warming on Mars, and on Jupiter’s moons?
No. What I am saying is that, if there is warming, GOOD! Such warming has been a boon to humanity.
